Yesterday it was revealed the television show Joss Whedon is working on for Marvel will be about S.H.I.E.L.D. and will air, unsurprisingly, on ABC. This show is part of Whedon’s three year deal with Marvel which also includes him returning for The Avengers 2. Now a few more details have been unearthed, for one, Whedon won’t necessarily be a showrunner for the S.H.I.E.L.D. show but rather his involvement will be when and where he likes. Yes, it must be nice to wield the power of Whedon.

The official showrunners will be Jed Whedon, the brother of I believe you can guess who, and Maurissa Tancharoen, who notably worked with Joss on Dollhouse and Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog. These three will write the pilot and will be joined by Jeffrey Bell and Jeph Loeb as executive producers. The rumor is Whedon will direct the pilot as well, but that’s in no way been confirmed. Though, I’m gonna say it’s likely.

More details on Joss’ involvement with the show comes from Variety’s Cynthia Littleton, who tweeted,

[Joss] reserves right to pepper in bits here and there. His bro Jed and Maurissa T. will be showrunners, he’ll just show up every now and then ‘and take credit for everything.’

Yup, that sounds about right. You make a movie that rakes in over a billion dollars and you get to do whatever the fuck you want.

Are you pumped for Joss Whedon to not only return to television but with a show set in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe?
