Clark Gregg Talks About His Future With Marvel

Ever since Agent Phil Coulson, played by Clark Gregg, was offed in The Avengers, he’s gained quite the following.  All of these theories have been popping up on different ways that Marvel can bring him back into the ‘verse and becoming the Vision and things like that.  Who knows for certain.  I personally think that he should stay dead because it’s become too much of a plot device in recent years.  (Thank God Dumbledore stayed dead.)

In any case, Gregg seems to be liking the fan attention.  He spoke with Movies.com about the theories that have taken over the fandom and the possibility of him continuing to work with Marvel in other capacities:

I don’t know if we’ll see Agent Coulson again, but I certainly do his voice in their animated series, The Ultimate Spider-Man, and you never know, there may be a flashback or something sometime. I really hit it off with those guys [at Marvel], and I’ve talked to them lately about some ways I can continue to work with them, perhaps as a writer or director.

On the speculation regarding Coulson coming back as The Vision:

You know The Vision is synthetic with a soul, sort of, and he’s an amazing character who I loved when I used to read those comics. I love the idea of Coulson as that guy, but I don’t know if that’s in the cards.

He also noted that the enthusiastic fan rumors and fanart and such is all “hilarious” and “actually really moving”.

It’s too bad that Coulson won’t be a part of the S.H.I.E.L.D. TV show.  There will probably be some sort of reference:

You know what, that was the moment when I went, ‘Great, they’re doing the S.H.I.E.L.D. TV show and I’m on a slab!

What do you guys think about these rumors?  Would you like to see Agent Coulson make a comeback?
