Fans of Marvel Comics Ant-man character have been chomping at the bit after Edgar Wright showed some test footage from his work on the Marvel Comics movie Ant-Man at last years San Diego Comic Con. The news quickly tweeted out of Hall H that day, but no one else has gotten to see the footage. Fans have been clamoring to have the footage put onto the Internet so everyone could get a look with disappointing results.
Today’s good news comes from Marvel exec Victoria Alonso who says an online release is a distinct possibility. Alonso, Co-Producer and Executive Vice President of Visual Effects and Post-Production at Marvel Studios, (Say that without taking a breath) told Marcelo Forlani of Ommelte:
“What we showed at Comic-Con was a video still unfinished and we are working to finalize it. And I think you should see it, but do not know where yet. We always hear what the fans are saying and doing everything to meet what they ask. I do not know if we’ll publish it online , but I have no reason to imagine that is not a good way. If that’s what the fans want.”
Don’t go sit in front of your computer waiting though, it sounds like it might still be a while before we get to see it. As good as this news is to Ant-man fans, every coin has a flip side.
Dr. Strange fans get the bad news that Alonso also squashed the latest Internet rumor about Viggo Mortensen appearing in Thor: The Dark World as Dr. Strange.
“We would love to work with Viggo Mortensen. I’ve been trying that for years. But I don’t know if Viggo is even acting anymore. I thought he wasn’t acting anymore. It would be great to work with him in the future, but we don’t have him signed, no.”
Alonso may be a bit confused about the status of Mortensen’s acting career, he is not retired and is still quite active in his acting career, but it does throw some cold water on fans hopes of his playing Marvel’s Sorcerer Supreme.
Who else could fill those shoes?
