While nothing has been officially confirmed as of yet, it is a very real possibility that the captain of the Dawn of the Planet of the Apes ship will be abandoning ship. The fact that Fox has declined to make any comments makes it all the more real.
Rupert Wyatt may be pulling out of this installment of the Planet of the Apes franchise due to scheduling issues. The studio had announced a release date of May 23, 2014 and that may not have worked out too well with Wyatt’s own schedule.
Chances are the studio will continue with the money machine and churn out another movie by that date with another director if they can’t negotiate with Wyatt. They’ve already got a script, which Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver had written and everything seems to be moving smoothly beyond the lack of a cap’n. And it’s not like he’ll be too lost without this project; he’s got some others lined up and many other potential jobs in his future. I suppose it may take more than an apology BJ to get him to stick around.
