You read that headline correctly! Peter Jackson is apparently quite keen to work on an episode of Doctor Who, telling the The Waikato Times, “Just name a time and place, and I’ll be there!”
Give me a moment to collect myself. This is some super, stellar, awesome, fantastic news! Could you imagine Jackson’s spin on the 900+ year old Time Lord!? How could he possibly fit it into a 50 minute time slot?
This all began when Matt Smith mentioned he’d love to work with Jackson and film in New Zealand to the paper,
I think it would be an absolutely wonderful place to film Doctor Who. I’m told it’s glorious. I’m told it’s quite similar to England.
Let’s get Peter Jackson to direct one and go and make it in New Zealand. I would love to, I will campaign endlessly to come over and film there. There’s clearly a great film industry out there. It’s something I would be very interested in, it’s just whether we can persuade the producers to fly us all over.
The Waikato Times turned to Jackson for a response which was, “I’m a huge Doctor Who fan, and I think Matt’s fantastic. Just name a time and place, and I’ll be there!”
Again, AHH! I get excited every time I read it. Come on BBC, facilitate this! I wouldn’t doubt Jackson’s a Who fan as he cast Sylvestory McCoy, the Seventh Doctor, as the wizard, Radagast the Brown, in the upcoming Hobbit films. What say you, would you like to see Peter Jackson collaborate on some Doctor Who?
