The first teaser trailer for the remake of Stephen King‘s classic story Carrie has hit the interwebz. The very same teaser that was shown over the weekend at New York Comic Con.
Screen Gem and MGM certainly wasted no time in getting this to the masses. *shakes head* They obviously do not care about a little thing called “convention exclusivity.” I want to talk about this for a minute…
Online reveals like this are bad and studios should feel bad. I mean come on, what’s the point of attending conventions -spending loads of money, standing in long lines- if all the visual treats are blasted on the net the following day or two? It’s completely unfair to loyal fan-boys/girls!
The adaptation was directed by Kimberly Peirce (Boys Don’t Cry, Stop-Loss), and it stars Chloë Grace Moretz, Julianne Moore, Judy Greer, Portia Doubleday, Alex Russell, Gabriella Wilde and Ansel Elgort.
Talent wise, I’m all thumbs up (love Chloë Moretz). However, based on this brief tease, I feel this is going to be an over produced, watered down, PG-13 version of King’s prom horror classic. Check out the preview below and lemme know what you think.
Carrie opens on March 15. Here’s the synopsis:
The quiet suburb of Chamberlain, Maine is home to the deeply religious and conservative Margaret White and her daughter Carrie. Carrie is a sweet but meek outcast whom Margaret has sheltered from society. Gym teacher Miss Desjardin tries in vain to protect Carrie from local mean girls led by the popular and haughty Chris Hargenson, but only Chris’ best friend, Sue Snell, regrets their actions. In an effort to make amends, Sue asks her boyfriend, high school heartthrob Tommy Ross, to take Carrie to prom. Pushed to the limit by her peers at the dance, Carrie unleashes telekinetic havoc.
