With out question, the years most shocking news goes to the buyout of LucasFilm by Disney. The second most ear bleeding news, however,  has got to be the identity of the villain in The Amazing Spider-Man sequel.

From Variety:

It looks like Sony’s  The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is coming together faster than expected as sources tell Variety the studio is in early talks with Jamie Foxx to play the villain in the movie. Though the studio would not comment on the character sources have also told Variety that Foxx would play Electro in the pic.

And yet, Donald Glover remains uncast as Spider-Man.

Jamie Foxx is a fine actor (I mean hey, he did win an academy award), but I can’t see this. And no, this has nothing to do with a black actor playing a white character. I personally think race doesn’t matter, so long as the character is done right. My issue is…I still think of his Living Color skits every time I see him. I can’t take him seriously.

For those not in the know, here’s a little info on the character. Electro was first introduced as a Spider-Man villain in The Amazing Spider-Man #9,  which was released in February 1964. The villain was originally an electrical engineer named Maxwell Dillon – traditionally drawn as a white guy – who was involved in a lightning accident that caused his body to turn into an electrical capacitor.

Guess this means that they are no longer going with the Goblin killing Gwen Stacy story line?

Are you kidding? The guy is an Oscar winner and Grammy winner and you can’t get past the crappy comedy skits he did 25 years ago?

      Nobody Can.

You clearly have never seen Ray. Not to mention Electro is one of the cheesiest, pun dropping, B grade, loser villains in the Marvel universe and Jamie Foxx isn’t good enough to play him? Please.

I think we all know why he’s -really- disappointed…

Well I couldn’t get past seeing Heath Ledger as the Knight’s Tale guy but I forgot about my biases once I saw him play as Joker. Why can’t Foxx pull it of as well?

On the contrary. I expect shit like this. I’m a superhero fan but i will not be seeing this. Less than zero interest.
