Elfquest is one of those nerdy franchises that always seems to be just on the cusp of going into development on a big screen film. And so it goes…
Variety is reporting that film producers Stephanie Thorpe and Paula Rhodes have acquired the rights to Elfquest, a property that was formally set-up at Warner Bros. But Thrope and Rhodes seem dead serious about moving forward with this, they even made a little sample of the project:
But if you’re an Elfquest fan, and you’re still not sure, then Elfquest co-creator Wendy Pini wants you to know that Thrope and Rhodes have her complete support:
“With their deep love and understanding of the property, they represent a new direction for ElfQuest…new creative energy and new connections in the larger media.”
The series, which blends sci-fi and fantasy, follows “Cutter, his tribe the Wolfriders, and their quest to find and unite other groups of elves against the threat of humans, trolls, and other assorted nasties.” If you’re interested at all, you can read every issue of Elfquest on the series’ official website.
What do you Bastards think? Shall we all Elfquest together at the local multiplex?
