Not that it was entirely unexpected, but now that the official announcement has been made we here at the NerdBastards can tell you, our humble (ahem) readers that Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel flick will most definitely be in 3D and IMAX.

Despite the high-tech format, the filmmakers assure us that the movie won’t just be a splash-attack of special effects and that the presence of the third dimension is only there to enhance the “cinematic experience”.  It’s only going to be presented in select theaters, of course, so you might have to look around a bit if you happen to live in the middle of ass-crack nowhere.

And for those of us that get headaches from watching 3D, never fear.  The movie will be in 2D as well.

Look for Man of Steel to fly into theaters (yeah, I said it) on June 14^th of next year.
