‘Star Wars’ Rumormill – Ben Affleck and Tom Hiddleston Speak

Brace yourselves folks, for here comes another round of Star Wars Episode VII speculation!  This one involves the possibility of either Ben Affleck or Tom Hiddleston taking part in the upcoming revival and both the director and the actor have a few things to say about being involved.

One of the hottest debates revolving around the new Star Wars is the question of who will sit in the director’s chair.  Ben Affleck’s name has appeared on more than one list of hopefuls, though if you ask the man himself, he not only hasn’t been approached about the opportunity, but wouldn’t take it even if he had the chance.

Or, to put it in his own words:

I’d be too busy worrying about how the action figures would look for each character to direct the actual movie. I’d be like, ‘Oh, we’ll just reshoot the movie with the action figures.’ It’s very exciting that they’re going to make more, I have to say. There might be purists who are opposed to it, who knows…but I think it’s a very cool thing and I’m excited to go see the movie.

More after the jump…

In another arena, Tom Hiddleston (you may remember him as Loki from Thor and The Avengers) was recently asked if he’d like to play around on the set of the new flick in an acting capacity.  It may be a little too early to be thinking about casting, but then again, considering the 2015 release goal I’m guessing Disney already has many lists compiled of who they’d like to bring on board.

Hiddleston had this to say about a potential role:

Goodness, I hadn’t thought of that. I mean, yeah, sure. I’m a HUGE fan, especially the first three…so absolutely, yeah. It would depend on the story and the character and things, but maybe people would associate me too closely with Loki. I hope not. Kathleen Kennedy is a filmmaker of such extraordinary experience and wisdom, and is one of the best producers I’ve ever, ever worked for. She just knows her way around the medium, and the art form and the industry. So I’d take it very seriously if they asked me.

Hiddleston does have the Disney inroad, not to mention being a fresh and popular new face in the movie world.  He also apparently has some ties with new Lucasfilm guru, Kathleen Kennedy so if he wanted a role he wouldn’t have too much of a problem getting it.  Also, his face looks kinda alien-esque, so they might cast him purely for the sake of saving money on make-up.

So yeah, folks.  No real news, but at least some of the rumors are being cast aside.  One of these days we will have something better for you.  Until then, just enjoy the hype and try to think positively about the upcoming new trilogy.

Thanks to ScreenRant for the heads-up.

I never want to hear the words “Ben Affleck” and “Star Wars” in the same sentence unless it’s: “I never want to hear the words ‘Ben Affleck’ and ‘Star Wars’ in the same sentence.”

Tom would be great -out of his Loki get -he is a an attractive guy and a brilliant actor as well-he plays Henry Vth/ Prince Hal in the Hollow Crown series with majesty and heroism–so different from his Loki role—part of me just feels he is to good an actor for a Star Wars Sequel–but he loves the series so why not.
