‘The Walking Dead’ to Introduce Fan Favorite Character From the Comics to Television

Fans of the The Walking Dead have been witness to some new faces and shocking conclusions this season – and we’ve only just crossed the halfway point. Seeing as how the series has diverted from the comics there are some notable differences, but one fan favorite from the comics will be making his way to AMC.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, series creator Robert Kirkman teased the introduction of this new but already well-known character, saying:

“There’s a new character added. A big deal fan favorite from the comic book is introduced into the show in this episode, so be on the lookout for that,”

Check out just who it could be after the jump.

The episode in question is December 2nd’s Fall finale titled “Made to Suffer” and speculation is that former NFL linebacker Tyreese could be in the cards. Around since issue seven of the comic series, Tyreese became one of Rick’s most trusted allies. He eneded up as one of the group’s biggest heavy-hitters, known more for his melee tactics rather than his shooting skills. While serving as Rick’s right hand, Tyreese also managed to warm the heart of sword-swinger Michonne, earning Tyreese respect as one of the series’ most loved characters.

When asked point blank if it was indeed the linebacker, Kirkman said:

“I don’t know, man! I don’t know. I got no clue!”

While Tyreese is not officially confirmed as of yet, it has been rumored that The Wire‘s Chad Coleman was seen in the Atlanta area where The Walking Dead has shot since season one. If this is true, then AMC has locked-in the right man for the job. Coleman already has some zombie experience, voicing Coach in Valve‘s Left 4 Dead gaming franchise. People are apparently confident that he has the part, even going so far as to add him to the Walking Dead Wiki.

Be sure to catch The Walking Dead finale starring Andrew Lincon,  Chandler Riggs, Norman Reedus, Lori Holden, Melissa McBride, Lauren Cohan, Danai  Gurira, and David Morrissey on December 2nd at 9P.M. on AMC.

What do you think? Is Coleman perfect for the role or is someone entirely different going to head our way?

Be sad if they brought him on now and the same thing happened on the show that happens in the comic. Kinda hard to stay cryptic on that but Yay Tyrese anyway!!
