While it’s likely too early to say for sure, Tom Hiddleston, a.k.a. Loki Laufeyson, brother of Thor Odinson, thinks we won’t be seeing him again in Avengers 2. Recently when MSN asked if Loki would appear in the sequel, Hiddleston said,
I don’t know. And that really is the honest answer. I know I’ve been known for obfuscation in other quarters, but I have no idea.
I haven’t spoken to Joss. He’s definitely doing it. So I suspect not, only because I think that probably the audiences are tired of Loki being the bad guy. Maybe the Avengers need somebody else to fight. But I’d love to be part of it again.
I’d like to see a new villain for the Avengers to tackle in the sequel, but I’d be more than happy to have Loki in the mix again, too. Thankfully we haven’t seen the last of him as Hiddleston is reprising the role in Thor: The Dark World, releasing November 8, 2013. With Avengers 2 not releasing until 2015 that’s two years we’ll be Loki-less. I don’t know how the fanbase will manage.
What do you think about Loki appearing again in Avengers 2? Too much Loki? Is there even such a thing?
