Every day the internet produces an astounding amount of goodies and gems. Most hilarious, some amusing, but all worth at least a few seconds of your time. We here at Nerd Bastards try to bring you the best bits of news and nerdery the webz has to offer, with a bit of snark thrown in. But sometimes not everything makes the cut. Monday through Friday we’ll be bringing you our inbox leftovers, our forgotten bookmarks, the nerdy bits that simply slipped through the cracks. You can submit items to Nerdy Bits by emailing us at email@example.com.
Above: Yowza! Cosplayer Micheline Pitt sure makes a very convincing Vampirella. [CBM]
This modified nerf gun NERFENSTEIN is great for your steampunk Batman costume. Assuming it fires a grapple or some other non-lethal ammo, because if you’ll remember, Batman observes very strict gun laws. [ObviousWinner]
We’ve shared plenty of superhero bodypaint cosplay on Nerdy Bits before, but this is something spectacular and unique. Artist JKB Fletcher photographs a model in superhero bodypaint, dblows up the image, then paints these amazing portraits on canvas. Do yourself a favor and check out his entire gallery of work. Built by Michelle Khuu this custom LED Borderlands 2 XerO sword is amazing. It’s so darn impressive I’d expect it to slice anything and anyone in half. Sadly, it’s not functional, but that wouldn’t stop you from displaying or carrying it around proudly. [Technabob]
Andrew DeGraff created these really cool maps outlining each of Indiana’s adventures in Raiders of the Lost Arks, Temple of Doom, and The Last Crusade. No word if he’s making one for Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and honestly, who’d care if he did. [NerdApproved]
Check out this gallery of cool and sometimes creepy concept art for these – mostly – iconic characters. It’s surprising what some of these guys were initially imagined to be. [ScreenRant]
Hunter Davis, the incredible Ian McKellan impressionist is back. He’s “Baby Got Back.” Honestly a real collaboration between Sir Ian and Sir Mix-A-Lot can’t be far behind. [GeeksAreSexy]
