The legendary Godzilla has had no shortage of screen time over the decades. Ever since his inception back in 1954, he’s been the subject of everything from movies to video games to comic books. Some of these incarnations have been better and others not-so-good. Legendary Pictures is looking to give the big green hater of Tokyo another chance with their planned 2014 remake. And now, it looks like Godzilla is going to have company.
According to the mysterious “inside sources”, the new Godzilla flick will feature two additional giant rubber monsters (though I imagine they’ll be CGI this time around). Whether they’ll be fighting with our favorite radioactive lizard or joining him for tea remains to be seen. But who could it be? Mothra? Rodan? Mechagodzilla, perhaps? They ain’t sayin’.
Legendary has also been very keen to emphasize that their version of the epic monster will be much different from what we’ve seen in the past. Of course, some of the “different” versions of the past have been complete crap, so let’s hope they know what they’re doing with this one.
Being written by Frank Darabont, screenplay adapter for The Green Mile and The Walking Dead, and directed by Gareth Edwards, of no known directorial accomplishment, the new Godzilla is expected to come stomping in (and hopefully through Tokyo) come May 16th, 2014.
