New information regarding Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past:
Most of the film takes place in 1973.
The same call sheet also offers this piece of advice–presumably to the film’s extras:
Look 1973. Hair should be left to grow as well as sideburns, mustaches and beards. Modern hair color and hair cuts will be OUT for this film.
1973 would mean Days of Future Past begins 11 years after First Class, which was set in 1962. Many fans more or less expected this, since the assumption has kind of been that each film in this continuity would jump ahead one decade as they progressed (does this mean an ’80s-themed sequel is to come? I hope so!).
Now granted, Days of Future Past is a time-travel story, and all of the characters from the original trilogy are apparently going to be making appearances….so while “most” of the film may take place in 1973–it seems likely that not ALL of it will.
X-Men: Days of Future Past is scheduled to open in theatres July 18, 2014–and marks the return of director Bryan Singer (X-Men, X-Men 2) to the X-Men universe.
