Director Bryan Singer has just tweeted the announcement of Peter Dinklage’s (Game of Thrones) addition to the already incredibly talented cast of Singer’s latest foray into the X-Men franchise, X-Men: Days of Future Past. No word on what character Dinklage might play, but this news has just raised my anticipation levels for X-Men: Days of Future Past through the roof!

Eleven man, this casting news goes to eleven!

That’s the iconic cover of X-Men 141 that started the Days of Future Past storyline.

Days of Future Past” is a popular storyline in the Marvel Comics comic book The Uncanny X-Men issues #141 and #142, published in 1981. It deals with a dystopian alternative future in which mutants are incarcerated in internment camps. An adult Kate Pryde transfers her mind into her younger self, the present-day Kitty Pryde, who brings the X-Men to prevent a fatal moment in history which triggers anti-mutant hysteria.

Which character might Dinklage play? I would love to see him play:

puck

Puck, from Alpha Flight.

The first character to use the codename is a man whose real name is Eugene Milton Judd. He was born in 1914 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. He spent years traveling the world as a soldier of fortune, working as an intelligence agent and bouncer, before becoming a professional adventurer and joining Alpha Flight.

That background as a mercenary would allow him some war history with Wolverine, who plays the major role in the storyline. Dinklage could also play a ret-conned Toad character, or be a totally new mutant character Singer wants to introduce into the franchise.

What do you think? Is there another character that Dinklage could play. Heck, Dinklage is so talented he could play a woman and I’d give him the benefit of doubt.Which mutant do you think Dinklage will play? Let your fellow NerdBastards know what you think in the comments section below.

X-Men: Days of Future Past opens in theaters July 18th, 2014.
