The latest project on the Hollywood adapt-a-comic list is the Eisner Award-winning Dark Horse project Beasts of Burden. Okay, so maybe it’s actually been in development for more than a year, but whatever. The point is, the project has finally found its director and can, hopefully, move forward. Shane Acker, director and one-half of the mastermind duo that made the visually amazing movie 9 is all set to jump into the Dark Horse saddle.
Beasts of Burden was originally put together by Evan Dorkin (Milk & Cheese) and Jill Thompson (Scary Godmother) and is being adapted for the big screen by writer Darren Lemke (Jack the Giant Killer).
As the story goes, a group of dogs team up with a cat in order to protect the people of Burden Hill from a host of supernatural threats. Sounds like a classic kids Halloween flick to me.
Thanks to The Hollywood Reporter for the heads-up.
