The character posters for director Shane Black‘s Iron Man 3 just keep on rolling with the addition of Sir Ben Kingsley as the evil arch-enemy of Tony Stark, the Mandarin. So far we’ve gotten to see Don Cheadle as War Machine or Iron Patriot, then Guy Pierce as Aldrich Killian. What other character posters are you looking forward to seeing?
What do you think? I’m excited to see Kingsley’s take on the sinister role of the Mandarin. That villain always has plots hidden in schemes, layered beneath twists and turns of . . . evilness. Kingsley should bring some added depth to the character, he plays the bad guy character very well and I can’t wait to see him opposite Robert Downey Jr. Those scenes should be intense.
The two have never worked together, but have found a common bond in their individual relationships with director Lord Richard Attenborough. Downey, Jr. worked with and was nominated for an Oscar for portrayal of Chaplin in Attenborough’s Charlie Chaplin (1992). Kingsley won the Best Actor Oscar for his role as Gandhi in Attenborough’s Gandhi (1982). The two sent Attenborough pictures of their time spent on set. Robert Downey Jr. said:
“We hadn’t worked together so we shared only Lord Attenborough, and yeah, of course, there was a connection. We took some pictures together to send DICkie (Attenborough), which must be the strangest visual for him to see – the two of us playing the bad guy and the good guy. We shot them out in front of a mansion in Miami, it was a magical place, actually.”
Well, are you excited now?
