Aside from the usual guess work about plot and stuff, but there’s been some speculation that the top top secret details of Iron Man 3 would be in how the film might relate to the rest of Marvel Phase 2, and dare we say, Phase 3.

To wit, we’ve got new concept art here (courtesy of CBM). The first piece comes as no surprise really. There was a shot of a bobble head a few weeks ago that suggested that Iron Man armor rigged for space travel would be making an appearance in the film. Consider this a confirmation:

Many have suggested that there will be some kind of tease concerning Guardians of the Galaxy at some point during Iron Man 3, hence the space suit for the Armored Avenger. And speaking of teases, we get this:

To the trained eye it looks like Hulk-Buster armor, the specially rigged Iron Man suit built specifically to combat the Incredible Hulk.

But wait, there’s no information – official or leaked – that suggests the Hulk is going to be involved in any Marvel project until The Avengers 2. Of course there was a rumor a couple of weeks ago that the Hulk would be figuring huge in Marvel’s Phase 3 plans, that the end of The Avengers 2 would lead into a “Planet Hulk” movie and then the “World War Hulk” storyline for The Avengers 3.

So could the Hulk-Buster art be a super-advanced sneak peak at what’s to come? Or maybe it’s something Tony’s playing around with in Iron Man 3 as a “just-in-case” measure? I guess we’ll find out May 3rd, 2013.
