In one week Doctor Who will be back on our screens and we’ll begin unraveling the mystery surrounding The Doctor’s (Matt Smith) latest companion, Clara Oswin Oswald (Jenna-Louise Coleman). We’ve met her two times already, once as the souffle baking Dalek, Oswin, and again as the 18th century governess, Clara. And both times she died. Hey, third time’s the charm, right?

Released today is this very short prequel, a prelude more like, to the Series 7 Part 2, Season 7B opener, “The Bells of Saint John,” airing next Saturday at 8pm EST on BBC America. Written by, of course, Steven Moffat, the short does a real nice job establishing the mood of The Doctor. He’s depressed is what he is, having lost The Ponds only to lose Clara, again! So he sits on swing, feeling sorry for himself, only to be helped out of his funk by a precocious little girl.

How about that for a fun twist!
