It’s interesting that while DC has tried to simplify and streamline their comic book canon, in their latest video game they’ve chosen to blow a hole in that thinking and open up the multiverse. Universes upon universes of infinite and alternate versions of all DC’s characters will be at your disposal in this new MOBA – multiplayer online battle arena, I looked it up – game from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, developed by Turbine. Infinite Crisis will let players pit one version, say Nightmare Batman, against another version, say Gaslight Catwoman, in epic brawls.
Announced today and its first trailer released, Infinite Crisis is currently accepting Beta registrations and is expected to release officially in the fall. The game will be free-to-play, as is the way with most massive online games these days, and while the press release, available below the cut, doesn’t mention anything I’m sure there’ll perks and bonus for sending some money WB’s way.
