Nerdy Bits: Create Your Own House Sigil, Darth Vader Visits Tokyo, Disney Princesses Gone Wild, and MOAR!
Every day the internet produces an astounding amount of goodies and gems. Most hilarious, some amusing, but all worth at least a few seconds of your time. We here at Nerd Bastards try to bring you the best bits of news and nerdery the webz has to offer, with a bit of snark thrown in. But sometimes not everything makes the cut. Monday through Friday we’ll be bringing you our inbox leftovers, our forgotten bookmarks, the nerdy bits that simply slipped through the cracks. You can submit items to Nerdy Bits by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Above: In anticipation of the return of Game of Thrones, which by the way is this Sunday, HBO is offering you the chance to design your own House Sigil and “join the realm.” It’s really just a neat editor where you can plug in your name, pick an icon, add a motto, and boom, House Sigil. I made a quick one for the honorable House Lebowski as you can see above. A pretty good time waster for Monday morning, if I do say so myself.
My Little Pony cosplay is more popular than ever, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Rainbow Dash as rad as this. Very creative and fashionable, with just a touch of steampunk. In the costume is Jillian with photography by Kevin Eastman at My Sweet Addiction Photography. Check out more photos at Fashionably Geek.
Well this is an ultra clever ad for Man of Steel. [Pop Culture Brain]
This ad for Game of Thrones wasn’t executed quite as well. Unless Joffrey’s sporting some lovely, plump lips this season. [The Mary Sue]
Uh-oh! The Doctor better be careful, The Daleks have uncovered his greatest weakness: cuteness. Sure, she looks innocent enough, but a Dalek is a Dalek. [Fashionably Geek]
This is a mashup of the audio from the Jurassic Park trailer with footage from Return of the Jedi and they go together marvelously! Really, I’m surprised it took so many years from someone to notice the connection. [Geek Tyrant]
Darth Vader visits Tokyo Disney, gets lost, and wanders around Japan to the delight of many. [The Mary Sue]
Blonde twins and expert electric harp players, Camille and Kennerly, are back again. This time playing the theme to Doctor Who as they appear and disappear, ala The TARDIS, through the forest. If you’re a fan of any of their previous vids, there’s nothing not to like here. [Kotaku]
It’s Disney Princesses gone wild in this parody trailer of Springbreakers from College Humor. Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo, B*tches! [io9]
