Director Marc Forster‘s World War Z starring Brad Pitt has a new trailer and movie poster making the rounds on the Internet. Before this conversation devolves into a shouting match between those of us upset that the movie will end up looking nothing like Max Brooks‘ novel and those of us that really just don’t give a frak, as long as the movie is entertaining, let’s recap the story line and take a look at the trailer.
United Nations employee Gerry Lane traverses the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments, and threatening to decimate humanity itself.
If you can imagine that you’ve never read the book, that would look like an entertaining zombie flick. One of my favorite zombie death scenes, in the greatest zombie movie of all time, George Ramero‘s Dawn of the Dead, is the scene where a zombie gets his head whacked off by helicopter blades. For this young NerdBastard, it instilled a fear of Helicopter blades, much like the shark in Jaws made my think twice about taking a bath for a few years.
Now the Helicopter – Zombie Grudge Match has come full circle. You’re never safe in a Zombie Apocalypse, everybody knows that, even in the air. Forget that horrifying airplane outbreak scene. I can easily imagine being trapped on a plane when someone bitten turns, but when that wave of zombies takes down that helicopter flying by, that sent chills down my back.
The movie hits theater screens June 21st. I’ll be in the back row, how about you?
