Now I know you saw the headline and got excited, but before you nerd-based mind explodes with the possibilities of a former companion or a Doctor’s return announcement for the Doctor Who 50th anniversary special, beware that these are seemingly new characters to the series. So who do we’ve got?
First up is Ken Bones who’s playing a character known simply as The General. Bones is a familiar face to British TV having appeared recently on the series Upstairs Downstairs and The Hours. He’s also had roles in Wing Commander and Troy.
Also set to appear in the special is Orlando James who’ll be playing Lord Bentham. Jones is a relatively new actor having had some success in British theater, his appearance on Doctor Who will be his first TV role.
Finally, actor Marshall Griffin has also been cast in an unnamed part, at least according his people. Griffin recently appeared in the British Being Human and in the film World of the Dead: The Zombie Diaries.
So what do you think that means? Well “The General” and “Lord Bentham” are pretty generic names, does it suggest that we’ll be getting some appearances from The Doctor’s fellow Time Lords in the special, because those names sound pretty Gallifreyan to me.
More news as it develops.
