Super Hero Round-Up: ‘Iron Man 3’ Spoilers and Awesomeness, ‘Black Panther’ Rumors, Slade Talks ‘Daredevil’
Hello, my pretties, and welcome to another round of the compact version of Nerd Bastards news. It’s the Super Hero Round-up, where we present to you a whole bunch of minor crap, all at once! This time around, some Iron Man 3 news, along with a rumor about potential Black Panther casting and a Daredevil not-to-happen tidbit. Check it all out after the jump.
First and foremost, it looks like the polls are in and the polls have this to say – Iron Man 3 is THE most anticipated movie of the summer of 2013. Yup, people want to see this flick and there is evidence to support that claim. According to a poll by Fandango, those on their site really want to see the new Iron Man installment. Obviously, this means big bucks for Marvel Studios, but I think that it’s already apparent they are going to make some major bank on this regardless of any polls. Seriously, we’re all going to see it. If you feel the need, you can even pre-buy tix now. Of course, Fast and Furious 6 ranked 4th in their poll, so one has to wonder at the quality of people that were surveyed.
Next on the list, some spoilers for Iron Man 3… maybe. Do not continue if you fear the spoiler.
A newly released children’s storybook of Iron Man 3 has a few things that may give away some elements of the upcoming film. According to an analysis by ComicBookMovie:
1) Eric Savin (a bad guy) dons the Iron Patriot armor.
2) The character of Maya Hansen is actually a bad guy.
3) Both Pepper Potts and President Ellis get kidnapped by the Mandarin’s villainous cronies.
4) The final scene will pit Iron Man vs. Extremis-fueled enemies.
And those are just a few of the potential spoilers. Head over to ComicBookMovie to see quite a few more.
To shift gears a bit, let’s take a look at the potential for a Black Panther flick. Marvel Studios may well be putting something together for one of their umpteen phases, according to a recent bread crumb trail. Actor Morris Chestnut (recently of Kick-Ass 2) tweeted the following message:
It’s time to get familiar with the Black Panther character !
Whether that means Black Panther will be getting his own movie or introing into another flick (The Avengers 2, for example) remains to be seen. Either way, it would be pretty kick-ass to see him show up.
And finally, a bit of Daredevil news, as if that really means anything anymore.
David Slade (30 Days of Night), who was to become the guru of Daredevil back in the day (before Fox sent the rights back to Marvel) is talking a bit about what he would have done with the property.
In an interview with Film School Rejects, he had this to say:
[I saw it as] really complex and exciting. It was complicated [Laughs], and in the most unimaginable Fox way possible. I was really, really excited about it . . . It’s funny, I remember Joe Carnahan went after it hard when the rights were about to go. He cut together that thing that was great and exciting, but it was kind of sad, in a way, because everything in that trailer we had attempted to do [Laughs]. Every single thing.
And this too:
It’s in the 70s, Kingpin is going through New York dealing with the Irish mafia, and there’s Daredevil in the yellow suit. It was all there! You know, it’s a big studio film and it’s tougher…there are certain people who are really good at that, and I hope to be really good at that. I will continue to try my best.
So there you have it folks, all the latest super hero news in bite-sized chunks. Tune in next week (or maybe tomorrow), when we talk about other things and stuff as well.
Thanks to ComicBookMovie for all the great goodies.
