Honestly, I had assumed this movie was done for. The fever around monster-fying classics has since died down, and the zombie craze is losing steam. And after all the trouble keeping directors and actresses, I’d thought Pride and Prejudice and Zombies was cursed. And maybe I wasn’t the only one because it’s back as Pride, Prejudice, and Zombies. A decision I’m sure is driving Jane Austen fans crazy. New money is what breathed life into the decaying project when a new backer was signed in the spring.
And with new money comes new talent. Lily Collins (The Blind Side, Mirror Mirror) is currently attached to star, with Burr Steers (17 Again, Charlie St. Cloud) directing. And yes, it’s a noticeable drop in top star talent when you consider the likes of Natalie Portman, Blake Lively, Scarlett Johansson, Emma Stone, Anne Hathaway, and Mia Wasikowska were all at one point rumored to star along with David O. Russell, Mike White or Craig Gillespie as director. But, I don’t know if that’s fair, maybe this P, P, & Z – that what we’re calling it now? – will benefit from generally unknowns. As long as this doesn’t mean Zac Efron plays Mr. Darcy. ::shudders::
Are you excited things are moving forward on P, P, & Z or would have rather it’d stayed dead?
