Resting after an evening of blowing our minds!
Here it is, the beginning of summer blockbuster season! Every year I feel it comes earlier and earlier, but it seem last year’s The Avengers has set the precedent for Marvel kicking things off in early May. And they kick things off big. Iron Man 3 grossed $15.6 million in it’s 9pm preview screenings and midnight showings. That’s shy of The Avengers‘ $18.7 million, but still an impressive opening haul.
For a little perspective, The Hunger Games took in $19.7 million when it opened at midnight and The Dark Knight Rises made $30.6 million. But Marvel fans shouldn’t worry, it’s only May and with school still in session there’s a lot of kids who’ll be waiting to see Iron Man 3 this weekend. Just watch these number grow. I’m feeling quite confidant Iron Man 3 will surpass its predecessor’s earning of $128 million before its run is over.
Have you seen Iron Man 3? What did you think? If you haven’t yet, will you be catching it this weekend? By chance, did you check out our review from Matthew Jackson?
