Everyone figured there would be at least one X-Men cameo in James Mangold‘s upcoming The Wolverine, there needed to be some cross-over between the Wolverine movies and the rest of the X-Men franchise. When it was revealed that Famke Janssen would reprise her role as Jean Grey and appear in The Wolverine, many fans figured that was that and stopped trying to put the cameo puzzle together. After all, as far as everyone knew, the puzzle had been solved, but the question now is, has it been fully answered?

OK, now that we’ve left the weak of heart behind, the word is that a scene was filmed in the Montreal airport between Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) and Professor Charles Xavier (Must be played by Patrick Stewart, since Jackman’s Wolverine wouldn’t interact with James McAvoy’s Prof. X … at least not at this TIME). The cameo scene would most likely be the bridge between The Wolverine and Bryan Singer‘s X-Men: Days of Future Past.
There’s no additional details about what happens in the scene, but we can speculate that it might be a way to reintroduce Professor Xavier after his death in X-Men: The Last Stand. That movie teased that Xavier transferred his consciousness to a comatose body, but perhaps it will explain how Xavier still looks like himself (Patrick Stewart).
This scene is reminiscent of the end-credits scene with Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, that helped bridge the various Marvel Super Hero movies and would work just as well for the mutant movies of 20th Century Fox.
The Wolverine opens on July 26th.
What do you think, will the Professor make an appearance?
