When the news hit the Internet that Jamie Foxx had been cast as one of the main villains in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, the response was mixed. I was on the fence, and then I went to see Django Unchained and remembered that Foxx has some serious acting talent. He can pull it off, even if they dress him up in a truly-horrifically-stereotypically-nerdy scientist manner (See picture below).

Foxx recently talked with Yahoo Movies about The Amazing Spider-man 2 production:

“Oh, man ― it’s so much fun, the costume is great. They were very creative with it. It’s part of a remarkable legacy: Spider-Man. I mean, when you’re growing up as a kid, you know, that’s everything. So to be able to be in that is just amazing.”

Foxx went on to confirm his attendance at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con International, and that the visiting cast and crew will be premiering film footage at the panel.

“Now I’m just waiting to get to Comic-Con and see how people respond to it,” Foxx said. “Marc Webb is a genius and Amy Pascal and everybody at Sony have just be so gracious to allow me to have this opportunity. So it’s cool.”

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHaan, Shailene Woodley, Colm Feore, Sally Field and Chris Cooper, and Paul Giamatti. The movie swings it’s way onto theater screens May 2nd, 2014.
