Because some people still insist that video games can be turned into movies that don’t totally blow, Blizzard has elected to work with the moneybags-that-be to produce a World of Warcraft film. And while the news has been mostly rumor thus far, it now looks like there’s an official confirmation that it will begin shooting in 2014.
According to producer Charles Roven:
First quarter 2014 we’re going to shoot that movie. We’re moving forward; obviously Legendary is making that film and I’m having a great time with Duncan.
Yup, it’s a-go, folks. The only saving grace of this idea, at least to me, is that Duncan Jones will be directing it. He’s the guy that did that amazing fkn film called Moon. If you haven’t had the chance to see it, you should hit up the Netflix immediately. If Duncan can bring even a fraction of the deep story that Moon possessed to WoW, we might finally see the world’s first non-crap video game movie!
