Avengers 2 is still two years away and shooting on the film hasn’t even started yet, but people are already screaming for details on what Joss Whedon has planned for us this time. There’s not a lot of information out there, but the latest to come through the Internetz arrives via the mouth of the Whedon himself. What does he have to say? Looks like Loki will be put into cold storage for the second Avengers flick.
When Whedon was asked about Loki and the possibility of him returning for Avengers 2, he had this to say:
Imitating what I did before is the surest way to do it not as well. Second of all, and Loki is not there to say those terrible things.
But there’s always the chance that he might change his mind, right? Not likely, as he also had this to say regarding the Avengers 2 script:
I’ve turned in a first draft, but the story is very set. Everybody’s very much on board with the exact movie I’m trying to make which is what worked the first time.
Well, it’s probably for the best, in my opinion. With so many villain possibilities, there’s really no need to drag Loki into everything. The guy may be loads of fun, but he has his screen time in Thor 2. Let him enjoy a little vacation while he dreams up his next big plot to destroy/take over a world or two.
Check out the Loki-less Avengers 2 when it comes to theaters on May 1st, 2015.
Thanks to ComingSoon for the heads-up.
