Each and every week we scour the Internet for nothing but the best in nerdy art. We leave no digital stone unturned, we poke and prod every nook and cranny of the Interwebz. Why? Because we love you, and we love to bring you weekly feed of nerd art.
On with the dump!
Above: In the battle for who gets to play on the swing set first the winner is Ultron! An Age of Ultron variant cover by Skottie Young, one of Marvel‘s best cover artists, the Marvel babies can’t really beat a robot that never needs a mid-day nap. [GeekTyrant]
Hit the jump for Ben Grimm P.I., Teen Titans and more.
Ben Grimm is more of the strong silent type of the Fantastic Four and we all know it, makes for a great detective right? So being the genius he is Francesco Francavilla took that idea and turned it into an all out concept, with Grimm working a case covering the death of Mr. Fantastic. Who wants to bet Dr.Doom is responsible? [Matthew Jackson Writes]
Wonder Woman has an invisible jet, a rope that makes you tell the truth, and a boyfriend that can bend steel, she has to have something for a night out? If she didn’t she does now thanks to Hanie Mohd, giving Diana a matching skirt to go with her super-short shorts. Let’s see Lois get this classy for Clark, ain’t gonna happen though. [Comics Alliance]
There have been many imitators, but only three people can legitimately say that have been the Joker and Marco D’Alfonso has brought them together into one weird collection. Featuring Cesar Romero, Jack Nicholson, and Heath Ledger‘s “Jokers” in a fitting tribute to three men who put a smile on that face. Check out the limited-edition purple and green poster in the link. We knew it! Spock is a bacon man and Jesse Azarain has given us the proof in a neat little painting. Combining two of man’s greatest gifts, Star Trek and bacon, Jesse’s done something wonderful to bring jocks, nerds and their common interests together. [Neatorama]
We featured this insane looking throne by Marc Simonetti a few days ago, but we just had to give you another look at it. More in line with the description of Game of Thrones author George R. R. Martin, this throne might not be what HBO had in mind, but it sure demands respect. Now if only they could unhook Joffrey from the seat. [Laughing Squid]
Character design is different for everybody, but it looks like concept artist Brandon Pike has a pretty strong hold on the process. With his clever designs for Walking Dead‘s Rick Grimes and films like The Dark Knight Rises and Man of Steel, Pike is very good at what he does. And this is only fan art, just think of what he could do if he was getting paid to draw these. [GeekTyrant]
Back in 1965, Sports Illustrated said he was going to be the next Arnold Palmer, now Chubbs Peterson is one of many in Cuyler Smith‘s gallery “Cut Short”. Featuring 120 pop culture portraits from all over Hollywood, Smith’s gallery will be on display August 9th to the 24th at the famed Bottleneck Gallery. Totally worth a viewing if you’re in the area next month. [XombieDIRGE]
If you were a fan of the Teen Titans you should recognize this mug shot of Robin covered in various ink from the “Trouble in Tokyo” special. Artist Felicia Smith did and drew her own version of what it would look like. Good thing this didn’t happen in Gotham, Batman would have a field day. [Deviant Art]
