And after months of headaches and indecision over who’d be directing the next James Bond flick, where rumors of everyone from Christopher Nolan to Nicholas Winding Refn, we can now confirm it’ll be a return to the directors chair for Sam Mendes. Both he and Daniel Craig are back for Bond 24, in what will hopefully be one smashing follow-up to Skyfall.
Skyfall became the most successful Bond film ever, earning $1.1 billion worldwide, and of course Sony and MGM want to repeat that! Producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli today made the announcement of Mendes’ return after months of being resigned to the fact Mendes’ schedule was simply too busy. In fact, back in March we were convinced Mendes was out of the running to direct the next 007 flick because as he himself confirmed it was, “a very difficult decision,” to choose not to return.
Time makes liars of us all, doesn’t it? So Mendes is back, Craig is back, screenwriter John Logan will also be back, and all we can hope for is lightening to strike twice. Hit the jump for the full press release. Are you excited to hear Mendes gets another crack at Bond, or were you hoping for a fresh take?
