Peter Jackson tweeted another significant moment during his filming of the last two Hobbit films. This time around it’s the completion of Martin Freeman‘s last scene as Bilbo Baggins.
Tonight Martin Freeman finished his last shot as Bilbo Baggins. The end of an incredible two and a half years. I cannot imagine anyone else in this role – a character that Martin has nurtured and crafted with love and great skill.
As the production has progressed rapidly toward the editing and special effects stages, we’ve seen the last of those pretty elves, gritty humans, mysterious wizards and now that clever hobbit. That just leaves the dwarves. We now enter our final two weeks of pick-ups, and it’s wall to wall dwarves. These pick-ups have been grueling and intense, but I’m so happy with what we’ve been shooting. These next two movies are going to be pretty great!
We’ll get to see Freeman as Bilbo two more times, this December in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and in December of 2014 in The Hobbit: There and Back Again.
