Jeff Wadlow Writing ‘X-Force’ Movie, Likely to Star Cable & Deadpool; Plus Magneto Movie Still in the Works
The news on FOX‘s X-Force movie is just steamrolling! Only this past Thursday night did we even learn FOX was interested in a feature film based on the 90s comic book series, and now the movie has been officially confirmed as in the works with Jeff Wadlow, writer/director of the soon to be released Kick-Ass 2, attached to write the screenplay.
Likely, this rapid release of this X-Force news is tied to San Diego Comic Con happening next weekend. FOX dragged their feet in releasing the details of their Saturday Hall H panel, and I’m going to guess it’s because they wanted to have as much of this X-Force stuff finalized before they officially, officially announce the flick in front of thousands of nerds.
So what do we know? Well, Wadlow is indeed writing the screenplay, as THR reported yesterday, and may be interested in directing as well. As for the line-up of characters who’ll comprise the team? X-Force creator Rob Liefeld is convinced you can’t have an X-Force movie without Cable or Deadpool, tweeting,
Liefeld’s got more to say, hit the jump to find out!
Will it be the Merc with the Mouth, or that pathetic excuse for Deadpool we saw at the end of Wolverine: Origins? I sure as hell hope not! Liefeld is convinced it’ll be Ryan Reynolds back as Deadpool, not matter what, tweeting Reynolds, “IS DEADPOOL.” He then assures fans that this X-Force movie will be what pushes the Deadpool movie into production.
And, as if this wasn’t enough, Liefeld also confirmed a Magneto movie is still in consideration. When Wolverine: Origins still sounded like a good idea, it was often paired with talk of a Magneto: Origins movie. Well, then Wolverine: Origins released and it was a giant turd, so I had figured that Magneto movie was dead. Not so tweets Liefeld,
It’s only “in development” so it could die at any moment, but until they pull the plug I can keep my hopes up for a Michael Fassbender-starring Magneto movie. OhPleaseOhPleaseOhPleaseOhPleaseOhPlease.
So Bastards, now with all of this X-Force development, what are you thinking? Who do you want in X-Force? What of Reynolds finally getting the chance to reprise Deadpool?
