It’s that time: Fox is doing a crossover episode of The Simpsons and Family Guy. Whether this is a great idea or it’s simply an attempt to keep both shows alive as long as possible, we’ll just have to wait and see. The episode of Family Guy is titled “The Simpsons Guy” and will air in the fall of 2014.
There have been mini-crossovers before – Homer had a quick, one-line cameo appearance in an episode of Family Guy in 2012 and Seth MacFarlane had a guest role in an episode of The Simpsons just this year. But this time, it’s a full out episode with both families meeting and mingling.
Simpsons castmembers Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, Nancy Cartwright, Yeardley Smith and Hank Azaria will lend their voices to the installment, in which Peter and the rest of the Griffins embark on a road trip and wind up in Springfield. There, they cross paths with Homer, who graciously greets his new “albino” visitors, and the two families become fast friends. Stewie is impressed with Bart and his assortment of pranks, Lisa tries to figure out exactly what it is that she’s good at, and Marge and Lois do some bonding. Meanwhile, Peter and Homer argue over which beer is better: Pawtucket or Duff.
It would be interesting, to say the least, to see how the families mesh with each other. Marge and Lois would definitely be able to bond over kids who are constantly up to no good and their dumbass husbands. Maybe they’ll end up channeling their inner lesbians and ditch the dudes. Who knows.
What do you guys think of this?
