Yesterday we brought you some news about James Cameron bringing on a new writer to help with his upcoming Avatar sequels. Well now it looks like the extended workforce means a bigger workload. Though Cameron had only hinted at the possibility before, it looks to be official – there will not be two, but three new Avatar flicks.
The writing dream team now consists of Josh Friedman (The Sarah Connor Chronicles), Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) and Shane Salerno (Salinger). And Cameron himself, of course.
But wait, that’s not all! With the announcement of the addition of a fourth film comes a report that production on the new three will begin next year. Their plan is to release Avatar 2 in December of 2016 and then follow that with a new one each year until they run out.
Thanks to ComingSoon for the heads-up.
