Who doesn’t love Harley Quinn? The Joker’s sexy, goofy, badass nutbag moll/girlfriend/emotionally abused arm candy has been a fan favorite since she first appeared on Batman: The Animated Series in 1992. But the character survived the end of the cartoon, transferred over to the comics, and has become one of the most ubiquitous cosplay ensembles in all of nerddom…Truly, the deranged ex-psychiatrist is a queen among villainesses
The one medium the former Dr. Harleen Quinzel has yet to conquer, however, is the moving pictures…
Well, with Batman to return to the big screen in Batman Vs. Superman, perhaps we could see a cinematic Harley.
And who’s chomping at the bit to portray her? The magnificent Katee Sackhoff!
Best know as Captain Kara “Starbuck” Thrace from 2004’s Battlestar Galactica reboot, Sackhoff has made a name for herself as a comic book geek, so she knows the character and the genre–on top of being a great actress and gorgeous AND already blonde!
Here’s what she said to Esquire on the subject:
I love Harley Quinn. I do. I just love it. It’s not been done before. It’s this fantastic mix. I mean, it’s like the female Joker. Who wouldn’t want to do that? Quite potentially — it’s not around so I wouldn’t feel the weight of it — I’d probably sell my first born at this point to do that.
Not since Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier has an actor been more suited for a comic book character role:
You tell ME who else has the looks, talent, and nerd cred to play Harley….AND could pull off that smile?
I guess the real question is this:
Is there a God? And how much does He love Nerds?
