Once upon a time, Tim Burton was making a Batman movie, and he decided to cast Michael Keaton as the titular superhero. Burton liked Keaton well having just finished working together on Beetlejuice, but the actor’s predominately comedic resume had some fans concerned that Keaton was not at all fit to carry the dark, brooding role of the Caped Crusader. (Oh, who am I kidding? Fans threw a $#!% fit temper tantrum big enough to blot out the sun.)
Well, what goes around comes around, and the announcement of Ben Affleck as Batman in the upcoming Batman Vs Superman last week, had an equally hyperbolic reaction. So why not ask a fellow Batman for his blessing? Well, although I loathe to regurgitate anything TMZ does or says, their omnipresent camera managed to find Keaton the other night and so they asked him his thoughts on “Batfleck.”
“He’s gonna be great,” said Keaton. Check out the full video below:
So between this and Val Kilmer‘s tweet giving Affleck a half-hearted “Give Ben a chance,” and Batfleck has two out of five previous live-action Batmen rooting for him, and that ain’t bad. Stay tuned for thoughts and well wishes from Adam West, George Clooney and Christian Bale.
