Legendary Pictures recently changed up their contract and are now working closely with Universal Pictures as opposed to their old buddies at Warner Bros. With the change comes the need for Legendary execs to pick some projects they want to throw their money at. And it looks like they may want to get involved in the upcoming return to the Jurassic Park franchise.
So far, the company has just expressed interest, so there’s nothing official yet. They’ll still need to have a look at how the product is shaping up before offering cash flow.
And while it may seem like a simple game of “who gotz the money”, if Legendary gets involved they’ll get a bit of creative input on the project. Thus, the final flick will end up a little more in their style. They’ve worked on Man of Steel, the Dark Knight titles, Inception and many others (both good and bad), for those that don’t know. In the end, even something like this could be a major factor in rescuing the Jurassic Park franchise from the toilet that was the third film.
Thanks to /film for the heads-up.
