I’ll save you my usual tirade of outrage over there still being no Wonder Woman feature film, or hell, even a serious discussion of one. That’s a moot point by now. The fact is I remain vigilant that before I die there will be a Wonder Woman film, released in theatres, and by the grace of the gods won’t suck. And this latest bit of development discovered during a recent Reddit AMA by writer/director Max Landis (Chronicle, that delightfully insane Death of Superman short film) makes me all the more hopeful.

During said AMA, Landis was asked about his plans, if any, to direct a superhero film. His response: “You’ll know sooner than you think.” Hmm…

Later on he mentions two ideas he’s had for a superhero flick, and that he’s interested in pitching them to Warner Bros.,

Either a version of Green Lantern that played like ‘ET’ meets ‘Stand By Me’ using the goth/punk [scene] and Kyle Rayner, or Wonder-Woman, using a pitch that I intend to make to WB.

Now, there’s no evidence this upcoming superhero flick announcement and Wonder Woman are related. (Other than linking the two statements together and assuming their related – which, by the way, is often how this internet journalism gig works.) It’s far more likely Landis is working on some kind of super secret, superhero movie, possibly for Warner Bros., but definitely not Wonder Woman or that sweet Kyle Rayner/Green Lantern story he outlined. So, what is it?

MTV‘s Brett White has a good guess it could be Locke and Key since it recently got a new writer. Perhaps it’s Landis. And while, yes, Locke and Key isn’t a superhero property but rather a comic book, the two do tend to get mixed up all the time.

Landis’ possible involvement with Locke and Key aside, would you like to see him involved with finally bringing Wonder Woman to the big screen? Why do you think there’s been so much discussion recently of a Wonder Woman feature, but never any real progress? If not Wonder Woman, what superhero property would you like to see Landis tackle?
