In regards to Star Wars Episode VII, we’ve all been supposing the return of Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher, but what about something a little more inanimate, like a particular setting or prop? For example, consider the Millennium Falcon. You all know the Millennium Falcon, it’s the ship that made the Kessel run in less than 12 parsecs. But now, not only is she fast enough for you, old man, but it sounds like the Falcon’s going to have a pretty big part to play in the new Star Wars movie.
According to Latino Review, a highly detailed replica of the Millennium Falcon set has been re-constructed on the stages of Pinewood Studios. The new film is expected to begin filming in early 2014, which is still several weeks and/or months away, so it does seem kind of peculiar that set construction would be so far ahead at this point. But hey, what do we know about film production? We’re just the guys who bitch about it.
Seriously though, if Episode VII represents, in part, a return visit to some of character from the original trilogy it would also make sense to include the ship that was so central to those first three movies. Of course, keep in mind that all this is just rumor and speculation right now, and there’s no confirmation about anything involving plot or character in regards to Episode VII.
