So far, all the super hero flicks that we have been seeing in recent years add up to one big sausage party. Sure, there are some ladies in them and some of those ladies are even heroic. But people want to know when we’ll actually see one of the super-powered women take center stage. Well, it looks like Marvel may be planning to remedy that situation fairly soon. At least if you believe what Natalie Portman has to say.
In a recent interview, the Thor starlet was heard muttering this cryptic message:
“There are definitely many strong women, but it will be exciting when there is a central female character which I think is coming – I have heard is coming – and, of course, also a central non-white character will also be exciting. Title characters.
But they do definitely have strong female characters in them, and I think it’s a testament to the people who run Marvel, their respect, their just normal human respect for women, the way they want to characterize them; you can tell when men talk to you, as just a person or as a ‘woman.’”
So… she’s heard that it’s coming? I have to wonder though, is she in the know or just paying way too much attention to Internet rumormill sites? I guess we’ll find out once Marvel gets around to announcing the rest of their Phase 3 titles. Until then, cross your fingers.
Thanks to blastr for the heads-up.
