As if SyFy doesn’t already have enough monster flicks under its belt, it looks like now they’re going to take advantage of the recent resurgence in Kaiju popularity by producing their own television series based around giant monsters.  But before you roll your eyes and experience a SyFy Original flashback, be aware that this little bit of Kaiju fun shall be developed by none-other-than Bryan Singer.

The series will be called Creature at Bay and so far a 90-minute pilot has been ordered.  The writer of said pilot is John Cabrera of H+ fame, a man who has worked with Singer before.  Of course, it’s just a pilot so they still need to impress the powers-that-be in order to get a full series.  Then again, how hard can it be to impress SyFy?

Unfortunately, the basic story does not revolve around Kaiju running around and destroying cities.  Instead, it will follow the events in a small Northern California town, post-Kaiju attack.  Whether we will get to see any actual Kaiju on-screen remains to be seen, but I’m guessing if they get picked up it will have to happen or audiences will be right pissed about it.

We’ll let you know more about this project when we get more information.  Until then, keep reading Nerd Bastards or risk losing all your geek cred.
