Several casting agencies that specialize in actors and actresses with particular body shapes and sizes got a casting call for a particular character for J.J. Abrams‘ Star Wars Episode VII. If you’re at work, you might want to check yourself before you read the traits those casting directors are looking for. You wouldn’t want to let out your best Wookiee yell at the top of your lungs in front of all your co-workers, you might startle someone.
Tall Man (Male, 21 – 60) Male, 7 ft to 7.3 ft tall with a slim/thin build and upright posture. Nt *(Not too) worked out or too ‘thick set’ especially in the shoulders. Broad facial features would be a bonus.
Now this could be a new Wookiee character, or some other alien race, but we all know that if Han Solo is making an appearance, Chewie won’t be far behind. Unfortunately, Peter Mayhew isn’t physically capable of taking on the role, although he could do the voice work.
Whoever gets the role could be tied up for a number of years. Aside from the core Star Wars Episode movies, there is also that stand alone Han Solo movie. Chewbacca, much like the R2D2 and C3PO, could be one of the bridges tying these movies together.
Even after the movies have long been relegated to weekend afternoon movie status, the actor who plays Chewbacca will be able to attend any Sci-Fi or Comic book convention at will. It’s a kind of supplemented retirement income for Sci-Fi actors and actresses.
