Marvel and ABC’s new series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. maybe a mixed hit with fans, heck, even Screen Rant post an article about ways to improve the show – after one episode, but believe it or not, the show is a bigger hit than you think, and they have the DVR numbers to prove it.Initially, the first episode of the series secured some of the best overnight numbers in four years, a 4.7 score in the 18-49 demographic in live-plus-same-day ratings. According to TV by the Numbers, when the DVR numbers from the follow-on six days were factored in, the ratings went up to 7.0 in the demo, which is a 49 per cent increase from the season premiere. That makes S.H.I.E.L.D. only second to The Big Bang Theory for being the most watched show of the week, Big Bang is currently one of the most watch shows on TV period.
It’s not quite known yet how the follow-on episodes have fared, it seems that those DVR numbers are a bit slow in the releasing. The overnight ratings for episodes two and three have shown diminishing returns in terms of the ratings, but if the DVR numbers hold up, then S.H.I.E.L.D. will remain a solid hit for the new TV season. No matter how people on the internet feel about it.
