Fassbender Hasn’t Played the Games, But Likes the Story (Which is Why He’s Doing That ‘Assassin’s Creed’ Flick)
A Michael Fassbender led Assassin’s Creed flick just sounds wonderful, doesn’t it? The mythos of Assassin’s Creed is so rich and Fassbender such a talented actor that the combination can only produce one of the best films, or easily spark one of the best franchises in years. So it’s good news Fassbender is still interested in not only making the movie, but making it a damn fine film based on Assassin’s Creed‘s complex story. While chatting with The Daily Beast, promoting his latest gig with Steve McQueen, 12 Years A Slave, Fassbender gave a little nugget of an update about Assassin’s Creed‘s film prospects,
That’s definitely happening. We’re just developing the script at the moment. I’d heard of it but had never played the game. I don’t have a video game player … that’s not what they’re called. [Laughs] I met up with the guys from Ubisoft and they told me the story behind it, and I thought it was very interesting—the idea of reliving memories.
The whole premise of Assassin’s Creed where you live the past lives of former assassins while still fighting the Templars in the present is indeed… Fassinating. hehe
After going through a bit of a bumpy period in pre-production, Assassin’s Creed is scheduled to release on June 19, 2015 (Oh goodie, another big film slated to 2015). Its screenplay comes from Michael Lesslie.
Still looking forward to this one? I know I am, and not only because I’m dying to see Fassbender sprinting across rooftops in tight pants.
