You may have to wait another week for the console release of Batman: Arkham Origins, but you can download the mobile version of the game right now for free! With so much build up surrounding Origins and even Origins: Blackgate, you’re probably wondering why we haven’t heard much about this game until the day it released.
Well, because it’s pretty bad, to be honest.
The game, which was developed by NetherRealm Studios (the guys who brought us Injustice: Gods Among Us), was released yesterday on iOS devices, and will be released for Android on a later date. Not unlike the mobile version of Injustice, the mobile version of Batman: Arkham Origins will unlock exclusive content when linked up to the console version of the game.
I played the game for about 5 minutes, which was all I could bear of it. The combat is repetitive, clunky, and nothing like what we love about the console versions of the Arkham games, and unfortunately, the combat is all there is. You go through each stage, beating up a thug who basically just stands in front of you. The game was apparently announced at this past weekend’s New York Comic-Con, and after playing, it made a whole lot of sense that they waited until the day of release to actually promote it. Luckily, it’s free-to-play, so it’s worth downloading for whatever exclusive content might come out way because of it.
If you haven’t yet, be sure to check out the Batman: Arkham Origins TV spot that was also released yesterday.
