It was about this time last year that the movie rights for Daredevil reverted back to Marvel Studios after Twentieth Century Fox could make no movements with producing a new version of the project. So anyway, it’s been a year, and WHERE THE HELL IS OUR DAREDEVIL MOVIE?!?!?! The question was recently put to Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige, albeit in a less dickish way.
The context of the interview was the promotion of Thor: The Dark World, the latest Marvel Studios opus featuring the return of the God of Thunder, Thor played by Chris Hemsworth. But amongst all the questions about Asgard, the Avengers, et al, Feige received an inquiry about the somewhat more street level adventures of the Man Without Fear. Here’s what Feige had to say:
We’re trying to figure out what to do with Daredevil now. Punisher could show up at one point. You know, once we get characters back into the Marvel fold we don’t want to do something right away, we want to do the smart thing at the smart time.
And that’s more or less what we’ve heard from Feige before on the subject of Daredevil. My guess is that we won’t hear anything on Daredevil development for a little while yet, at least until production on Avengers: Age of Ultron begins in earnest. With a Phase 3 slate that includes Ant Man and is rumored to also include Doctor Strange and Black Panther, then I think we might expect a darker, edgier Daredevil movie to fit in there amongst the more diverse Phase 3 slate.
More news as it develops.
