After making an attractive pair with solid chemistry in the romantic comedy I Love You, Man—Paul Rudd and Rashida Jones (below), according to Schmoes Know, are set to possibly take on the roles of Marvel‘s favorite dysfunctional couple: Hank Pym and Janet van Dyne in Edgar Wright‘s Ant-Man.
Wright was reportedly impressed with the way the actors played off each other in their screen tests. However, we shouldn’t get ahead of ourselves. Not only is nothing confirmed as of yet, but it should be noted that while Janet is definitely in Ant-Man, Wasp–according to currently available info–will not be.
Word ’round the campfire says Van Dyne’s superheroic destiny will be hinted at in Ant-Man, but she will not appear as Wasp until Avengers 3 (which I didn’t even know was a thing before now).
Supposedly, Joseph Gordon-Levitt (The Dark Knight Rises, the GI Joe films) is still on the “maybe” list for the role of Pym… nothing’s set in stone yet.
As always, your faithful Bastards of Nerd will endeavor to keep you up to date with any further information as it becomes available.
On a personal note, I’ve been a fan of Rudd’s since Clueless, and I think he’s a marvelous choice for the role. Rashida Jones I do not know–but I hear her show Parks and Recreation is hilarious, and she certainly looks the part.
